Walker Valley (now referred to as the Tremont area of the park) has one of the most fascinating histories of any Smoky Mountain locale. Much of the credit goes to Big Will Walker, a husband to (at least) three wives and father of (at least) 27 children. Will was the quintessential mountain man, able to kill a bear, build a cabin, plough a field, drive a herd of cattle, carve a mill stone, and charm a hive of bees. Also includes information on the logging boom, the CCC, and more. Over 30 historic photos, 52 pages. Published by Smokies Life.
All proceeds generated through the sale of Smokies Life merchandise go to Great Smoky Mountains National Park to support projects and services.
