The official guide to the Junior Ranger program at Great Smoky Mountains National Park comes packed full of fun activities designed to introduce kids of all ages to the Smokies as they look, listen, map, notice, tell, consider, dance, play, seek, wonder, predict, observe, study, act, hike, and share! Kids can be officially sworn in as Junior Rangers at any park visitor center after completing at least five activities and five experiences in the guide with help from a team including a parent or guardian. This 9″ x 12″ stapled booklet includes 38 illustrated pages with tear-out bookmark and postcard. Developed by NPS staff at Great Smoky Mountains National Park with support from Smokies Life and assistance from the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians Cherokee Speakers Council. Illustrations by Jesse White.

Winner of the 2024 Outstanding Public Engagement Award from the Public Lands Alliance that recognizes exemplary products, displays, programs or services created in partnership by a nonprofit organization and public lands that advance meaningful and sustainable connections between individuals and America’s public lands.

 

All proceeds generated through the sale of Smokies Life merchandise go to Great Smoky Mountains National Park to support projects and services.

The Great Smokies Welcome Center is located on U.S. 321 in Townsend, TN, 2 miles from the west entrance to Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Visitors can get information about things to see and do in and around the national park and shop from a wide selection of books, gifts, and other Smokies merchandise. Daily, weekly, and annual parking tags for the national park are also available.
