Blue phlox is one of the loveliest spring flowers. In its wild state, it is extremely variable, with the color ranging from pinkish to pale violet, and the corolla-lobes entirely or deeply notched. Blue phlox was one of the earliest American plants to be cultivated in Europe and is illustrated in Miller’s Figures of Plants. 1758. The image and text for this earring was inspired by the Mary Vaux Walcott’s North American Wild Flowers, published by The Smithsonian Institution in 1925. Earrings measure 1.25 x 1.75 inches and are made from brass, silver tone metal with ear wires that are hypoallergenic.

 

All proceeds generated through the sale of Smokies Life merchandise go to Great Smoky Mountains National Park to support projects and services.

The Great Smokies Welcome Center is located on U.S. 321 in Townsend, TN, 2 miles from the west entrance to Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Visitors can get information about things to see and do in and around the national park and shop from a wide selection of books, gifts, and other Smokies merchandise. Daily, weekly, and annual parking tags for the national park are also available.
